Faroe wants to repeat history against Austria

0

The national football team of Faroe Islands is one of the smallest football teams that are playing in UEFA’s World Cup qualifications, and is considered to be a very weak team by the other European national football teams,no wonder since most of it’s players are amateur and it’s best players are playing somewhere in Europe’s second divisions.Faroe is a team where most of the other European football teams hope to encounter and to have them in their group since practically playing against a team like Faroe means that six points are secured from the start. However from time to time, very rarely this kind of football teams , by discipline and commitment, can cause problems to bigger teams, we don’t need to look far to see examples, just remember this year’s win of Luxembourg against Switzerland.

In case of the Faroe Islands, their last huge success was eighteen years ago and it was against Austria.Eighteen years ago, Faroe defeated Austria in 1-0 win in what was their first official match in a qualifying stage and a humiliation for the Austrians. Now Austria comes back to Faroe after eighteen years having that humiliating result in mind, and want revenge. And the revenge might just be easy to get, because since the 92’s qualifications Faroe Islands have constantly declined, their only positive result being a 2-2 draw against Cyprus in 2004 in the last six years, and in the current road to World Cup South Africa qualifications group they have lost to Serbia and Romania.

Faroe is the kind of adversary that when underestimated can be very dangerous,so even if Austria badly wants the revenge they must keep in mind, not to think that the match is already won from the beginning.

Can Chelsea win Champions League? Malouda seems to think so.

Chelsea is today one of the most important clubs in the world, and since Roman Abramovici decided to invest a part of his fortune in one of his favorites hobbies ,football, Chelsea has gained a lot of prestige, more fans and also premier league titles. After the Russian invested so many millions in the club transfers, bringing the finest football players of modern times to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea became a top club and it seemed that Roman Abramovici had seen his dream come true.Or had he?

Uefa Champions League, is the forbidden dream for the Russian investor, this is the reason he bough Chelsea and invested many millions, and still hasn’t succeed although he has the best players, and staff, and came very close to winning the trophy last season when they lost it at penalties against Manchester United.

Malouda seems to know a bit more than his boss. The French winger, transfered from Lyon last summer is confident that this season, Chelsea will triumph over all the other clubs and finally Roman Abramivich’s dream will come true.He has scored in the opening game against Bordeaux in the 4-0 win and says that he and his team mates should start thinking about reaching the final and winning the title this season.

Malouda is very optimistic and very satisfied with playing at Chelsea and with the life in London,  and says he couldn’t imagine himself playing for a better club.

Time will tell if keeping a positive though is the key to a Champions League triumph for Chelsea.

Romania – France WCQ preview

Saturday night, Farul Stadium in Constanta will host the WC qualifying match between Romania and France, a match that could be decisive in establishing the hierarchy of the group.

This match proves to be decisive also for the coaches because it’s likely to see a dismissal after this match.
Both teams started the campaign with a failure Romania was beaten home by Lithuania with an impressive 3-0 while France lost 3-1 in Austria.
After two matches Lithuania leads the group with maximum points followed by Austria, Serbia, Romania and France each with 3 points. Faroe Islands is the last one with no pints.
Romania and France were in the same group at Euro 2008 in the so called “group of death” together with Italy and Netherlands. Both teams have disappointed, and the direct match was considered one of the weakest and boring match from the Europeans history.
This match would mean the return of some key players for both teams, Mutu and Chivu for Romania and Vieira for France.
This is a crucial match and a defeat would be a disaster for any of the teams.
Considering the importance of the game and the past results I would bet on a draw for this match.

Is Vieira clean?

There were reports in French and Spanish press that Vieira used Actovegin this summer in order to speed up the recovery in view of Europeans.
The French midfielder was furious about the romours and declared: “I’m angry, this is a very serious allegation. This is how I have I managed 15 years of my career. I asked different opinions on how to treat my injury and recover more quickly, but always thinking about my health. The Doctor at Bayern suggested this solution, but in the end I did not take anything. I have not done anything illegal or prohibited, I am a clean player and I can look in the mirror without problems.”
Vieira won’t let this attacks damage his reputation and he is determined to continue the proceedings in justice.
Actovegin is used by diabet patients or who suffered a stroke. Actovegin is not comercialized in France despite being succesfully used in Italy, Germany or England.
Vieira is set to lead France in Saturday’s key match against Romania from World Cup Qualifications.
