Barcelona crashes Atletico Madrid in a 6-1 win as if it was practice match

This Spanish league match day provided an exiting derby match between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Everyone was expecting a lot from this derby match , both of the teams are playing in UEFA Champions League and both of them are playing remarkably good quality football,so the expectations were high, but what followed couldn’t be imagined by neither of the fans.

Barcelona simply crashed Atletico Madrid in front of it’s own supporters at Nou Camp,in a stunning brilliant football match by scoring no more than six goals.The surprise was big because not only did Barcelona scored so many goals in league match after an hesitating start in the Spanish league, but they did it against a formidable team like Atletico Madrid, a team that plays magnificent football and in UEFA Champions League , they managed currently
to win both of the first two matches in an convincing manner and are leaders in the group.

Barcelona headed for a furious start and by the eight minute it was already 3-0 for Barcelona,goals scored by Rafael Márquez ,Samuel Eto’o and Messi .Atletico Madrid replied with a goal to make it 3-1, but the first half agony wasn’t over for Atletico‘s coach, Barcelona scored twice through the goals of Eto’o and Eidur Gudjohnsen .

The second half brought the same playing style, Atletico wasn’t able to change and come back, so Barcelona sealed the game with another strike from the french Henry.

Currently Barcelona are three points behind the leader Villarreal, but after this magnificent performance against Atletico Madrid and after the good results in UEFA Champions League group faze ,Guardiola‘s side seems to have awoken and are beginning to look favorites for winning a new title in Spain.

Gerrard reaches 100 goals for Liverpool

Gerrard‘s goal from Liverpool‘s 3-1 victory against PSV seals his 100 goal for The Reds.

Gerrard, who plays for The Reds since he was 9 signed his first team apearence in 1998-1999 season. Since then the English international delighted the fans with his regular long-range strikes.
The goal against PSV marked his return to top form after groin injury. Last month the captain apologized to the fans because of his work rate and declared that he is only 70-80 percent fit.
The world class midfielder became the 16th Liverpool player to score 100 goals for the club.
Manager Rafa Benitez declared:”I think he can go on and get 200. One hundred goals is always a very good figure, but it is especially good for a midfielder.
He is one of the best offensive midfielders in the world and hopefully he will go on to score many for us in the future.”
Gerrard also made his 28th European goal for the club, a record which puts him 6 in front of Michael Owen.
And that’s not all for Liverpool‘s star. Gerrard was named the PFA 2UP Fans’ Player of the Month for September.
What a week for Gerrard who was also awarded with PFA Young Player of the Year, PFA Player of the Year, PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, European Midfielder of the Year, Premier League Player of the Year(twice), and UEFA Club Footballer of the Year during his career.
The Liverpool captain has been also nominated three times for the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Liverpool are sitting in second place in the Premier League table. The Reds are facing Manchester City this weekend.
The Liverpool fans are now hoping for a great season that will bring the Premier League trophy next May.

Dimitar Berbatov, one of the most known and talented football players at the moment, is showing that he is beginning to start settling in well at his new football club Manchester United.Following his transfer from Tottenham where he was considered a very important player and played a total number of 70 games and scored 27 goals in a period of two season ,everybody was expecting a lot from the Bulgarian player.

Not only because of the 30,75 mil pounds that where payed for him to move to Manchester United, but also because of his talent and capabilities, the Red Devil fans expected Berbatov to make a good and powerful start at his new club.However in his first three matches for United he didn’t manage to score and made fans question his transfer for such a big amount.But the fans should know that in case of any player that gets transfered to a new club, that player needs a period of accommodation, to get to know the other players and get into the teams tactics.It seems this is valid for Berbatov as well.In the latest game in Champions league in Denmark Berbatov managed to play well and score two goals, confirming his status and his value,and also making his fans happy.

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident of his striker and is sure that he will start scoring for United in premier league, perhaps starting from the next league match against Blackburn.

Drogba will not require surgery

Didier Drogba suffered an injury in the goalless Champions League draw against CFR Cluj.

There were initially fears that Drogba could be out for at least 3 months but Thursday scans revealed that there are no significant ligament damages.
Chelsea manger Felipe Scolari was very happy after finding that he will not require a surgery. It looks like Drogba will be out only for few weeks but Chelsea medical staff want to keep him under observation another 2-3 days until they pronounce on the verdict.
Scolari is facing limited squad options as Deco, Carvalho, Essien, Joe Cole are all injured and Terry, Ashley Cole, Alex with back problems.
Chelsea will play Aston Villa this weekend, and the only attacking option is Anelka. The Blues are occupying the first place on Premier League standings with 14 points from 6 matches.
It remains to see if Scolari can manage the situation and keep Chelsea on top of the table.
