Van Gaal felt no regrets after sitting out Falcao

Louis van Gaal, Manchester United boss, is not feeling regretful over his decision to sit out Radamel Falcao when the team lost to Southampton on Sunday, but online bookmaking services know that many fans were not happy at all to see the player miss the match.

The striker from Colombia was not included in the manager’s squad for the day of the match, when they were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

When reporters asked him if he was regretful about the decision that he made, the manager said: “No. The reason is that I have to see and compare players in my selection, that is what I’m doing when we train.

“Then I have to look at the composition of my selection and what I can do during the match. What players I have and I want to play with those kind of players, did not have match rhythm.

“So I had to change for example, Shaw and Di Maria, I know that in advance. Normally, I would have changed Di Maria for [James] Wilson because I also need speed in attack.

“I know in advance I have to change Luke Shaw and normally I have to change Daley Blind because he also needs match rhythm.

“In advance I know I have to change defensive players, when you see the composition of the bench and I want to change the playing style, which I did with Marouane Fellaini, then I don’t have any position for a second striker.

“This is this moment, next week is another moment. Shall I decide another way?”

The manager also confirmed that striker Robin van Persie had a problem involving his ankle, and on Monday will have an injury scan. The team’s fans and online bookmaking services hope that all will go well with him, as they’re well aware of what a key part of the team he is.

Sri Lanka v England Series

The English cricket team will travel to Sri Lanka for a one day series this November with captain Alastair Cook looking to rebuild his reputation and lead the side to victory. Sri Lanka recent results have been very impressive indeed, and they have actually now won their last five competitive matches in succession. Four over those wins came against Pakistan, and one was over South Africa. Both of these opponents are of the highest quality and Angelo Mathews side should come into the series with England brimming with confidence. Marvan Atapattu has done a fantastic job since arriving as coach and he was given the job on a full time basis in September after some really positive results during a period as interim coach. Will Shaqiri leave Bayern?

Xherdan Shaqiri is one of the most wanted players in Europe at this moment. The Swiss international failed to impose at Bayern but his performances with the national team attracted interest from Premier League. Shaqiri was wanted by Liverpool this summer but Bayern have not accepted to let their man go.

The 23 years old winger has to compete with players like Robben, Ribery, Goetze or Muller. Shaqiri declared recently that is not happy with his situation and that he will have a discussion with the club officials again this winter during the transfer period.

Shaqiri arrived at Bayern in 2012 from FC Basel. Since then he made only 48 appearances and scored 10 goals.
