Catalan Derby between FC Barcelona and Espanyol

These two teams FC Barcelona and Espanyol, have been there from the beginning, and there’s nothing more interesting than a local derby between two football teams from the same city.

The derby is a real special game one filled with history, passion and desire to defeat the opponent.This Saturday’s derby is just another episode,the 147 meeting between Espanyol and Barcelona.

Another particularity that makes this derby special is the fact that both of the teams coaches ,Bartolomé ‘Tintín’ Márquez and Josep Guardiola, are catalan and both of them where emblematic midfield players for the two sides, and participated in previous derbies as football players.Now Josep Guardiola and Bartolomé ‘Tintín’ Márquez will face each other from the bench.Although taking a visit to the both teams trophy room shows clearly that Barcelona has been more successful than their local rival Espanyol, this doesn’t affect the emotional charge between the game.

Guardiola stated that this match is a match that the whole city is enjoying and is looking forward
to.

Can too much success,too soon damage Zenit?

In the football history there where some examples of teams that have managed to gain success in a short period of time, rise up from the status of outsiders to favorites , and then after the quick success came
even a quicker downfall.

Is this happening to Zenit aswell?Is the team that gained success so quickly going to fall?Zenit‘s players last season won the UEFA cup, some of them played the EURO 2008 semifinals with Rusia their
national team , and lifted the UEFA Super Cup in a tremendous encounter with everyone’s favorite Manchester United.But after these huge successes Dick Advocat‘s team isn’t doing very well currently.

In the rusian premier league they are 17 points behing the leader FC Rubi Kazan, and in UEFA Champions league they have suffered a defeat against Juventus.More than that their next match in UEFA Champions league is against no other than the all time winner of UEFA Champions league,Real Madrid.

Dick Advocat has no other option but a win against Madrid otherwise Zenit might begin the downfall and become another team that met glory too soon.

Less then a year after Taylor‘s horrible tackle on Eduardo another similar incident happened in Tuesday League Cup game Middlesbrough against Manchester United.

Middlesbrough captain Emanuel Pogatetz had a criminal tackle on Brazilian youngster Possebon. Possebon required oxygen while it was removed from the field.
Pogatetz immediately received the red card. What’s really annoying is that Pogatetz protested at the referee decision.
Manchester manager Sir Alex Ferguson was really disappointed about the Pogatetz attitude. The Reds feared that Rodrigo has broke his leg but the Wednesday scans revealed that he suffered only ligament damage.
The Austrian will serve at least three-match ban. After the match Pogatetz accepted his fault and apologized.
Pogatetz declared that he hopes the Brazilian will recover soon.
However this things should not happen in a sport like football. One possible reason why this things repeat so often could be the tolerance of the English Federation.
Taylor received only three-match ban after broking Eduardo’s leg.
This kind of injuries could end the players career and the Federation should do something about it.

Chelsea sign Mineiro

Chelsea’s coach Luis Felipe Scolary has strengthened his team with the latest signing of Brazilian player Miniero.Beeing short of defensive midfield players , Scolary decided that Mineiro is that man that his team needs.After former midfield Claude Makelele left the club at the end of last season, and Michael Essien had a serious knee injury, the Chelsea manager found him self in the position of lacking defensive midfielders.

Carlos Luciano da Silva, nicknamed Mineirois 33 years old and was signed as a free agent ,his last team being Hertha Berlin and he has earned currently 24 caps for the Brazilian national team.

Luis Felipe Scolary is very optimistic about the signing of the 33 years old midfield and is confident that Mineiro will prove to be a good replacement in midfield, in fact he commented that Mineiro resembles Makelele in many ways particularly in the playing style.

The results will tell if bringing a 33 years old player on a free transfer to a team like Chelsea is a smart move.

Zarate the new Lazio star

When Lazio signed Zarate this summer no one expected that he will have such an impact.

Zarate, who arrived on loan from Qatari club Al-Saad already scored four goals in this season debut.
His excellent form didn’t pass unnoticed as he was already compared with Signori. Signori recognized that the Argentinian characteristics are similar to his and added that he could became a complete player.
Beppegol declared that he wasn’t expected the Argentinian to adapt so fast and that he has huge potential.
Lazio coach Delio Rossi is excited with the team performances and he is full of praise for his player.
Lazio are currently second in Seria A table with 9 points from 4 matches.
