Roma lose against newcomers Cluj

After 3-1 lose against Palermo, Roma suffered another defeat 2-1, this time in Champions League against Cluj.
After fighting for the title until last game with Inter last year, Roma has a disastrous start this year.

Roma took the lead after Panucci’s goal, but after that Cluj took control of the game.
The Romanians showed no fear in Group A opener.Cullio turned the match in their favor after two beautiful goals.
It’s a superb victory for a team who played in Romanian third division, five or six years ago.
One notable thing is that Roma has a lot of injured players, especially in defence. Also some players have just recovered and they are not fit to play at maximum capacity, most notable Totti and Taddei. Even in this conditions it’s a painful lose for a team that aims the trophy.
Another reason for this failure could be that Roma players are not concentrating the entire match and they are underestimating the opposition.
One thing is sure, Spalletti has to find a solution until is not too late.

Lionel Messi is looking forward to Uefa’s Champions League start

Although just turned 21, Uefa Champions League is no secret for Barcelona’s young midfield,Lionel Messi who is looking forward for the start of the competition.

Having an average of better than a goal every three games in Uefa Champions League, and having been part of the team that won the title in 2006 against Arsenal,Lionel Messi is considered to be a young leader and Barcelona’s fans are putting a lot of hope in him.Although among the years he has suffered some serious injuries, he didn’t play against Arsenal in the 2006 final, when being fit,Messi is one of the most important players on the field and a decesive factor.

Being considered a future captain, Messi wants to have a good start in the Uefa Champions group C against Sporting after having a very disapointing start in the spanish league,where Barcelona managed to gather just one point in three matches.

Messi reasures Barcelona’s fans and says that he’s not worried about the latest poor performances because the team has been traing hard and has a good moral.He’s fully confident on a home win against Sporting and thinks that a win now will bounce Barcelona back to a good playing form.

Tottenham suffered another defeat last night against Aston Villa.

Tottehnam are the last on the table with only one point after four matches.
The score was opened after only 5 minutes by Reo-Coker. It was his first goal in Premiership for Tottenham.
Just after half-time Ashley Young doubled the lead for Villa.
Despite making three attacking changes, Jenas, Giovani and Bently coming in, Tottenham could not find the goal until 87th minute. It was the last one and the game ended 1-2.
Spurs were completely outclassed by Villa who created a lot of chances especially in the first half. It was a superb performance from Villa.
Tottenham were completely out of ideas the entire match. It was another woeful performance for the Spurs.
Tottenham will face Wisla Krakow in Uefa Cup on Thursday and Wigan on Sunday.
This are two important games for manager Juande Ramos. If victories do not appear it’s obviously that the fans will turn against him.

Zola accepts new challenge as the West Ham United manager

One of the most talented football players that played in the premier league,former Italian international,Gianfranco Zola has accepted the challenge of becoming the West Ham United manager.Former Chelsea striker , that ended his career at Cagliari in 2005,Zola is in charge of the London club since 11 september and is beeing considered by the Hammer fans to have been a really good “signing” and are looking ecstatic about having him as their new manager.

Zola is beeing considered one of the best imports in premier league, after playing for Chelsea 7 years between 1996 and 2003 ,in 249 matches and scoring 89 goals.

Although fans hopes are high, Zola has admited that by taking this oportunity his has taken a chance, by risking his image created among the years as Chelsea’s player .

Whatever the risks of having his image deteriorated,Zola is optimistic about his new chalenge and states that he’s not afraid of making mistakes, because as a player by making mistakes and by learning from them helped him become a better footbal player.

Can Zola keep his image clean and not deteriorate it, or might this be for him the step he’s been waiting for in achieving and even overpassing the performances he had as a player, now as a manager?
