Ronaldo was expected to be out until October after the operation at the right ankle.
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson declared that the recovery was shorter than was previously thought and that Ronaldo is training already with the first team. Ferguson mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Ronaldo is following a recovery program with the physios and fitness coach.
Despite being fit to play for the derby match against Liverpool is hardly to believe that Fergusson will use Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is set to be in the starting line-up in the Champions League match against Villareal on Wednesday.
Ronaldo had a perfect season with Manchester last year winning both Champions League and Premier League.
He was also awarded with the “best Premier League player” and “best forward” by Uefa.
Ronaldo was associated with a move to Bernabeu whole summer but he finally decided to stay for at least one year.

After winning three consecutive titles in Serie A, Inter have now great expectations in Champions League also.

Inter hasn’t succeeded in the European Cup since 1965 and Massimo Moratti expressed his desire to win the most wanted club trophy.
Inter has a great history, collecting 2 Intercontinental Cups, 3 European Cups, 16 Scudetto and 5 Italian Cups.
Inter boss Jose Mourinho is very confident that his side can do a great job in Champions League this year.
Mourinho who prefers an attacking formation with 3 players in front declared that he is happy with the squad and the conditions at the club.
Inter has one of the biggest squads from Serie A and not only.
The Nerazzurri will play next game against Catania this weekend.
The European adventure begins next week when Inter will meet Panathinaikos.
Mourinho has a personal record of 98 home games without a loss in the last 5 years.
I think that Mourinho will impose his style and this year will bring the European glory for Inter.

United has not lost in Premier League at Liverpool since 2001 and won five from the last six meetings.
Manchester will not count on Cristiano Ronaldo who is recovering after surgery while Liverpool may miss Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres who are recovering after injuries.
This game could also mean the debut of Dimitar Berbatov for Manchester and Albert Riera for Liverpool.
Berbatov who joined Manchester last week for £ 30.75 m from Tottenham could cover the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. Berbatov could be the key player for United if he can take advantage of the defensive weakness that Liverpool showed  last seasons.
The importance of the match was reflected  by Alvaro Arbeloa in an interview for the Liverpool‘s official website, considering that the game worths more then 3 points .
Also he spoke about the past home matches that were lost by Liverpool in the last minute or after a corner kick. Arbeloa considers that those losses could be avoided and hopes that they will delight the fans on Saturday.
Liverpool haven’t won any Premier League title since 1990 and now they are prepared more then ever to change the history.

Are there anymore small teams left?

2

This weeks World Cup qualifiers provided interesting matches for the football fans but also provided some stunning results, results that would have generated a lot of money if someone would bet on them.
The most stunning result was the defeat of Otmar Hitzfeld ‘s Switzerland team 2-1 against Luxembourg. Having lost to Luxembourg team in front of their own fans, with a goal scored in the 86 minute, Switzerland have seriously damaged their image and provided one of the top surprises in the World Cup qualifiers. This historic win for Luxembourg was the first one in a World Cup fixture since 1972.
Another surprisingly team was Lithuania. After an astonishing win 3-0 again top favorite Romania on Saturday evening, the Lithuanians did it again and defeated Karel Bruckner’s Austria ,after a conclusive 2-0 win. If the first result against Romania can be considered an accident ,after last win we can raise some questions about how we look at these so called “small teams”.
Another “surprisingly” thing would be in Romania’s “win” against the Faroe Islands where after opening the score Romania found itself being dominated by an amateur team , and almost was equalized in the 90 min if it wasn’t for Romania’s goalkeeper great intervention.
Having these in mind, I’m asking a question. Are there anymore any small teams left? Or is it just a mith and the football has evolved such that any results like the ones above shouldn’t be considered a surprise?
