A few months later Conmebol, the South American Football Confederation, announced that Brazil, Argentina and Columbia are the countries that have applied for organizing the World Cup.

Argentina and Columbia have retreated from the course after all and the only remaining candidate was Brazil. Brazil won the right to organize the 20th edition of the tournament in 30th of Octomber 2007. The World Cup will be organized in South America after 36 years as the last time was in 1978 by Argentina. Brazil are organizing the final stage of the tournament for the second time as they previously organized the event in 1950.

The twelve stadiums  that will held the matches  are Estádio do Maracanã, Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha, Arena de São Paulo, Arena Pantanal, Estadio Castelao, Arena Amazonia, Arena das  Dunas, Arena da Baixada, Estádio Mineirão, Estádio Beira-Rio, Arena Pernambuco and Arena Fonte Nova. All of them were restored or built for this event.

Given the fact that fans from all over the World will arrive in Brazil during the competition, the authorities have tried to provide the best facilities. There will be a lot of companies that will ensure the transport from the airports to the stadiums and beyond. One of them is Car hire with Hertz which is the world’s largest general car use brand. They operate in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, The Middle East and New Zealand.

Even if the qualifications have not ended there are a few qualified teams for the Brazil World Cup. Besides Brazil who is qualified due to the fact that it’s the organizer, Japan, Australia, Iran and South Korea have also qualified.

Spain, the World Cup and European Cup holders, are the big favorite to win the tournament as they dominated the World football from several years now. They will try to defend the title won in 2010 against Holland. Brazil were also considered big favorites for the last tournaments but they disappointed every time. Now after Felipe Scolari was named the Brazil coach it seems that they are on the right path again and have big chances of winning the competition.Brazil looked again like a force at Confederation Cup where they won the final against Spain in a categorical manner by 3 – 0.

Germany is another team that are seen as a potential winner. They have players at the biggest clubs in Europe and after the results of the German clubs in Champions League when Dortmund and Bayern played the final we can see them in the final.

Holland will try to take the revenge against Spain. They are an offensive team and they dominate the qualifying group with maximum points after six games.

Argentina have one of the most expensive teams, Lionel Messi is the Ballon D’or for the fourth time, and they are more confident than ever that they can win this cup.

Italy, France, England, Portugal and even Uruguay are among the other teams favorite to won the World Cup trophy.

The 34 years old midfielder played only a few games last season for The Nerrazzuri. Even if he declared a few months ago that he will stay with Inter until the end of his current contract it looks like he has changed his mind and mutually terminated the contract.

Stankovic has wrote a letter to the fans in which he thanks the fans for support and appreciation. He also wanted to thank to Inter president Moratti who has faith in him and brought him to Inter in 2004 from Lazio. Stankovic made 315 appearances for Inter.

Stankovic is another big name from the team that won the “treble” with Inter in 2010 and who leaves to the club after Lucio, Sneijder, Eto’o and Julio Cesar.

Now Bojan and Barcelona are hoping that this spell in Eredivisie will revamp his career. It’s well known that Ajax are a club who are developing great talents and that are putting accent on youngsters.

Barcelona are looking after replacement for Charles Puyol as the Spanish defender is not at his prime. Puyol suffered a few long-term injuries in the last couple of seasons  and that was deeply felt by Barcelona.

The Spanish giants have a few options on the shortlist with names like Koscielny from Arsenal or Marquinhos from Roma.

Barcelona have made an offer of €20 millions on the Brazilian youngster but Roma are not willing to accept anything less than €30 millions. Marquinhos came at Roma from Corinthians last year but he already impressed the scouts from all over the World. The 19 years old defender is considered one of the most promising central defenders in Europe at the moment.
