Michael Owen revealed that he will retire at the end of the season. The 33 years old forward, who is currently under contract with Stoke, made a short presentation of his career.

The former Golden Ball described the Liverpool period as the best of his career and declared that he felt at home. Owen played for Liverpool between 1997 to 2004 when he scored 158 goals in 297 appearances. He has won FA Cup, League Cup and Uefa Cup but unfortunately  he missed the Champions League trophy as Liverpool won it in 2005, one season after he left for Real Madrid.

Jamie Carragher, who will also retire at the end of the season has only words of praise for his former team mate. Carragher described Owen as “The supreme goalscorer”.

Owen spoke also about the Newcastle period, a bad period for him. The former England international didn’t played for Newcastle because of the injuries. Newcastle relegated from Premier League in 2009 and the fans accused him for leaving the club in a difficult situation. Owen declared that the things are not that way and that he was not offered a new contract by the club.

Last season he joined Stoke where he was hoping to get more playing time but that didn’t happened.

Even if he will not play football, he will probably remain in this domain as England FA are preparing to offer him a role.

Mario Gomez is going trough a tough period of his life. Even if he just signed a contract extension with his team, Gomez is not happy at Bayern.

The 27 years old forward has lost his starting place in the favor of Mandzukic who is having an extraordinary season. Mandzukic came at Bayern last summer to fill the void left by Gomez injury. Super Mario suffered a ankle surgery just after the Euro 2012.

Gomez declared that it’s to early to talk about his future but if the situation will not change until the end of the season he might consider leaving Bayern.

Gomez is considered one of the best strikers in the Europe at the moment and there are a lot of teams that would be interested in signing him if he decides to leave.

The things might change next season when Guardiola will be in charge at Bayern. It is well known that the Spanish coach is an admirer of Gomez  abilities and that he also tried to sign him when he was coaching Barcelona.

Guardiola interested in bringing Rooney at Bayern

Latest rumors from Premier League suggest that Wayne Rooney is not happy at Manchester United. This is due to the fact that he was not used so regularly as before.

Rooney was on the bench also in the crucial game against Real Madrid and came in only in the second half at 2 – 1 for Real. Others suggest that there was a rift between him and Sir Ales Ferguson as the player is not feeling so important after Van Persie’s arrival. Rooney was close to leave United also when Ronaldo was sold but was convinced to stay and signed a new deal.

Now with this news there are a few interested teams in signing him. Manchester City and PSG are two of them but the transfer to this teams has small chances of succeeding. Mancini declared that he would want Rooney at City but with the rivalry between the clubs is hard to believe that Rooney will join City.

Lately Bayern have entered into the race, as Guardiola is an admirer of the England international. €22 millions might be enough to take him from Manchester.
