Manchester City have announced the signing of the Spanish international Jesus Navas. The transfer fee is believed to be around €25 millions and the player has signed a five years contract with the English club.

The 27 years old winger is the first summer signing for Manchester City. It is believed that Manuel Pellegrini, the new coach, has insisted for the Spaniard international.

Navas has spent his entire career at Sevilla. He has made the debut in football in 2003. Since then Navas had a few offers from other clubs but the player refused to leave his city.  It looks like the player has got over those problems and is ready for a new chapter of his career.

Navas has won 2 Uefa Cup, European Super Cup, 2 Copa del Rey and one Spanish Cup with Sevilla.

Monaco sign Falcao

AS Monaco have confirmed the signing of Radamel Falcao. The 27 years old forward will reunite with his former Porto colleagues Moutinho and Rodriguez. This is the fourth big signing for Monaco as the French club have also signed Carvalho who’s contract with Real Madrid has expired.

The transfer sum is not known but probably Monaco have paid the release clause for the Colombian star, which is believed to be around €60 millions. Falcao was brought at Atletico Madrid from Porto for €45 millions in 2011 to replace Aguero who left for Manchester City. The Colombian has signed a five years contract with the French side.

Probably Monaco will became a force in Europe but they will have to wait for at least one year to play in European competitions. Their goal for next season is to finish top 3 which would guarantee a place in Champions League for the next season.

Falcao scored 31 goals for Atletico this year and helped the club reach Champiosn League place and won Copa del Rey against their rivals from Real Madrid.

The former QPR boss replaces long term manager of seven years Tony Pulis, who left Stoke last week by mutual consent. Hughes had a tough spell at QPR; he was in charge for 11 months in which he only won 8 out of 34 games, which lead to him being sacked. The Welshman was replaced by Harry Redknapp shortly after.

Hughes will meet with the Stoke chairman Peter Coates and chief executive Tony Scholes at the media gathering at Stokes’ Clayton Wood training base today, in which it is said they will confirm the appointment.

“We had lots of inquiries about the job, including some very interesting names, but we decided Mark Hughes was a fit for us”, said Chairman Peter Coates in a recent interview with the Stoke Sentinel.

“His record speaks for itself. He has done excellently by anyone’s standards. He’s also a thoughtful, intelligent man with an intense desire to win.”

In his playing career Hughes has played for the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Bayern Munich and scored over 200 goals.

Hughes managed Wales on a part time bases where he guided them to a World Cup qualifying play off. He started his club managerial career at Blackburn in 2004 which saw him lead Rovers to three successive top 10 finishes before leaving the club in 2008 to take charge at Manchester City.

Despite a heavy period of investment, Hughes was unable to deliver success at City and was sacked in December 2009. A positive stretch at Fulham in 2010-11 saw the London club finish eighth in the Premier League and helped rebuild the Welshman’s reputation.

After just one season in charge at Craven Cottage, Hughes resigned and started his spell at QPR in January 2012, replacing Neil Warnock. Hughes was sacked 11 months later after he was unable to move Rangers away from the bottom of the table despite healthy financial backing in the transfer window.

Following news of the appointment betting-news.co.uk posted a tweet showing one fan who protested by parking his van outside the stadium with a large sign saying ‘Hughes Out!’. The appointment of Mark Hughes may not be popular with fans according the chairman of Stoke City’s supporters club Bryan Shaw.

“From all the people available, he would not have been my first choice, although he has a reasonable record apart from at QPR,” he said.

“If you ask the majority of Stoke supporters, Mark Hughes would not be their first choice. That said, whoever the chairman appoints we have to get behind. We just have to hope he proves us wrong.”

Real Madrid also tried to secure the signing of Neymar but the costs were too big considering the compensations that should have been paid.

The transfer sum was around €28 millions and the player has signed a five years contract with the Spanish giants.

Neymar is considered by many the best Brazilian player and a player that can compete with Messi and Ronaldo for Ballon D’or but only after his move to Europe. Many experts considered that Neymar should have moved to Europe much earlier in order to help him develop as a footballer.

Neymar declared that he is very happy with the transfer and he can’t wait to play along with Messi and his colleagues.
