Will Higuain join Juventus?

0

Juventus are searching for a top striker for a few seasons now. Even if they did well in Serie A where Juventus have managed to defend the title won last year, they suffered in Champions League.

Anelka joined the club in the winter transfer period and those from Juventus were hoping that his experience will help the club in Champions League but it wasn’t the case.

Even if they still have Vucinic, Matri, Quagliarella, Bentner and Giovinco they will go for another striker. Higuain and Jovetic are on top of the list for Juventus.

It is believed that Juventus and Higuain have already agreed on contract details and it only remains that Real Madrid and Juventus to reach to an agreement. The Argentinean will earn around €6 millions a year if he will join the Serie A champions.

Real Madrid are asking €25 millions on the striker but Juventus are not willing to offer more than €20 millions. But as the difference is not big the clubs will probably came to a deal.

Higuain has played  188 games for Real in which has scored 120 goals.

David Beckham will retire at the end of the season

David Beckham has announced that he will retire at the end of the season. PSG would have want to offer him one more year deal but the 38 years old midfielder decided that is best to hag up his boots.

This means an end of a golder era. Gary Neville was the first one who retired from his generation. Then after only a few months it was Paul Scholes but he returned to football field again and will hang up his boots also at the end of the season. Also Sir Alex Ferguson shocked everybody with his retirement. Now the only active player from that generation is Ryan Giggs but he will probably end the career in one or two years.

David Beckham is the most known English player all over the World. He has won trophies that most of the players are only dreaming of it with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

He is also the only English player who played and won the title in four different European countries with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Milan and PSG.

Beckham declared that he is proud of what he achieved in his career and wanted to thank PSG for giving him the opportunity to play in Champions League again. Beckham will probably feature in the last two games of the season with PSg against Brest and Lorient.

Europa League final Chelsea – Benfica preview

The winner of this year’s Europa League will be decided this evening. Chelsea will play against Benfica on Amsterdam Arena.

According to betting odds from Unibet, Chelsea are clear favorites to win the game and bring the trophy to Stamford Bridge. It’s worth to mention that this is the first Europa League final between two teams that came from Champions League. This could easily have been the Champions League final.

Also Chelsea have the chance to win both Europa League trophies in consecutive years, which will be a first. If the London club will win the competition then it will be fourth club which has won all three European club competitions. Juventus, Ajax and Bayern Munich are the other three clubs that have done that.

On the other side Benfica have lost only one game since September last year but that match could cost them the title in Portugal. With only two games left to play Benfica were first in the standings, two points above their arch-rivals FC Porto but things have changed after last game. Porto managed to win the game in the last minute and now Benfica have small chances of winning the title.

Those from Benfica fear the worst in the last act as they have lost all of the last six European finals since 1962. Coincidence or not that was after Hungarian coach Bella Guttmann, who has won two consecutive Champions Leagues in 1961 and 1962 with the club, said that Benfica do not deserve to win another European trophy. All this happened because Benfica’s president refused to increase his salary.

Now more and more Benfica fans think that this is a curse. In 1990 before the Champions League final Eusebio went to Vienna to Bella Gutmann grave to try to remove the curse but unfortunately for them Benfica lost the game by 1 – 0.

Even so there are some optimist players in their squad. Nicolas Gaitan believes that Benfica will win the game and so he will follow the steps of his idol, Diego Maradona who won the cup in 1989. Also Sven-Goran Eriksson believes in a victory for the Lisabona team. Their main advantage in his opinion is that they play a quick football and have a lot of technical gifted players.

The London club has  a moral advantage. Chelsea and Benfica met last year in Champions League quarter final and the England club has won both games, 2 – 1 and 1 – 0.

John Terry and Eden Hazard will miss the game due to injuries while on the other side the squad is complete. This will be the second consecutive European final miss for Chelsea’s captain John Terry.

Lampard is the new Chelsea top goalscorer

Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa has a special meaning for Lampard and for the Chelsea fans all over the World. The 34 years old midfielder became Chelsea’s top goalscorer after scoring both goals for The Blues.

With those two goals Lampard has now 203 goals for Chelsea. The previous record was owned by Bobby Tambling from 1970.

Lampard is also one of the most capped Chelsea player with 606 appearances in those 12 years spent at Stamford Bridge. The English international makes part of the selected group of players that have made over 600 appearances for a single club.

Chelsea won the game by 2 – 1 and have secured a place into the next season of Champions League.

Even if Lampard is now part of the club history his future at Chelsea is in doubt. His contract with the London club will expire at the end of the season and it’s not known if he will be offered a new deal. His presence into the starting lineup was more sporadic this year as Chelsea are rebuilding their squad.

Lates news from Premier Leagues suggest that Arsenal are in negotiations with Fiorentina over the transfer of their star Stevan Jovetic.

Arsene Wenger is ready to spend high and challenge for a trophy this year as he is willing to add two new strikers to the squad. One of them is Jovetic from Fiorentina.

The Serie A club value Jovetic at around €25 – €30 millions a bit more than Arsenal valuation who are willing to offer not more than €23 millions. The negotiations will probably start at around €20 millions.

According to the sport bet Jovetic was close to leaving Fiorentina last year for Manchester City along with Nastasic but the Italians have convinced the Montenegrin striker to stay for one more year.

Lewandowski and Dzeko are the other candidates for the target man position. A partnership like Jovetic – Lewandowski or Jovetic – Dzeko whould be lethal for any Premier League side.

Arsenal are looking also for a goalkeeper, right defender, central defender and a central midfielder.
