Is Fiorentina dependent on Mutu?

Fiorentina is having a weaker start of the season or at least not as as we used to in the last couple of years.

La Viola is currently seven points behind Inter Milan after twelve rounds.

Fiorentina is having one of the best attacks in Serie A with Gilardino and Mutu and everybody expected La Viola to confirm their expectation.

One of the reasons for this hesitant start is Mutu‘s fitness who has been suffering from various injuries all season.The Romanian international has played only nine matches this season and this proved to be decisively for Fiorentina.

“Il Fenomeno” is a key member of La Viola alongside Frey and Gilardino and the favorite of the fans.

Despite winning a few matches without Mutu his absence is felt in Fiorentina‘s game. His creativity and his skills are offering a plus to the team.

Mutu proved to be crucial last season when he scored 17 goals in Serie A and put a serious contribution in qualifying Fiorentina in Champions League after a period of absence.

A lot of football people think that Mutu is the true leader of La Viola and indispensable  like  Kaka for Milan, or Ronaldo for Manchester.

In my opinion Mutu is a massive talent and his qualities are undoubted. He also showed a great strength of character recovering after the problems with Chelsea.

Fiorentina will meet Udinese this weekend and Mutu is set to return after the injury suffered in Champions League match against Bayern.
